Chinatown Crookin w/ DJ Scottie B & Leigh Feldman

On Saturday April 17th in Portland Oregon, Baltimore's own club king DJ Scottie B took a few moments to speak with Leigh Feldman in Chinatown before the highly anticipated Club Crooks event at Crown Room for which we flew Scottie in for... this was a funny interview for many reasons.. the passersby, the wedding at the Church of Elvis, and the background to the stories told so eloquently by the man prince himself.. DJ Scottie B.

CLUB CROOKS: Saturday May 22nd @ Crown Room: Matt Nelkin!

The Club Crooks, DJ Izm & Easter Egg are proud to announce that we will be having Portland's own, DJ Matt Nelkin as our guest for the evening of Saturday May 22, 2010 @ Crown Room in the Old Town/Chinatown sector of PDX.

Collecting records since '94, Matt has established himself in the city as host to the radio show Liquid Beat on KPSU since back in '97, airing on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm and on Eugene's KLCC from 11pm-1am on Saturdays. Also.. 3.5 years ago Matt played an integral role in the coordination and music selection as one of the Rock Box DJs (at Holocene) on a monthly basis. Last year, Matt released a 12' vinyl EP alongside Rock box DJs, Dundiggy & DJ Kez full of excellent remixes that are very club worthy.

After last months highly successful April Club Crooks at Crown Room with Baltimore Club legend, DJ Scottie B & Seattle's Tigerbeat, we take it back to a local focus on Portland party rockers, where Izm, Egg, & Nelkin will annihilate the dance floor with certified club bangers, Hip Hop classics, Crunk, Hyphy, and of course Baltimore Club. This will be a no cover event. we hope to see you!

Caribbean edits

Dancehall/reggae type stuff. These are pretty commercial as well.

Diddy - Angels ft. Serani (Intro)
Million Styles - Born In The System - Rude Boy Riddim (Intro)
Inner Circle - Make You Sweat (Shortcut)
South Rakkas Crew - Room 24 ft. Rage - Mylo Riddim (Intro)
Beenie Man - Swagga Mi Flow (Intro)

These next 2 are great for genre switch ups, in case you feel the urge to switch your pop set into a dancehall set, or go the other way around.

Rihanna & Million Styles - Rude Boy (Dancehall To Pop Edit)

Simple commercial edits

Sometimes tracks need intros, sometimes they need to be shortened, sometimes they need to be blended. These are all very simple edits I put together to help my DJ game. I cut a lot of the songs short because I like to mix quick sometimes, but that's just the earlier edits, with the more recent ones, I leave the whole song intact. I'll make more, just have been busy with the computer crash and all.

Young Money - Bedrock (Intro, no Nicki, extended outro)
Clipse - Champion (Intro)
Gucci Mane - Choppa Shoppin (Intro)
Jay Z - Empire State of Mind ft. Alicia Keys (Shortcut)
V.I.C. - G5 ft. Rich Kids (Intro, shortcut)
Snoop - Gangsta Luv ft. The Dream (Intro, shortcut)
Rihanna - Hard ft. Jeezy (Intro, shortcut)
2Pac - How Do You Want It? ft. K-Ci & JoJo (Intro, shortcut)
Chalie Boy - I Look Good (Intro, shortcut)
T.I. - I'm Back (Intro)
B.O.B. - Nothing On You ft. Bruno Mars (Intro)
Notorious B.I.G. - Sky Is The Limit ft. 112 (Intro)
Snoop - That Tree ft. Kid Cudi (Intro)
Aaliyah - Try Again ft. Timbaland (Intro)

Hope these are useful for someone besides me. In the future, I won't be cutting the tracks so short.

Emocrunk: The XX versions w/ DJ Izm

Heyo.. DJ Izm here posting up some indie-ish dance-ish mixes Ive worked on over the past couple months. Ive been using a Macbook Pro with Ableton Live8 and an Akai LPD8 to do these songs.

Instantly falling in love with The XX when I first heard them, I had a vision of dance versions for multiple songs off the CD, I chose Stars and did an uptempo Clubby, Bali Funk, Hip Hop style remix of the quite solemn and chilled out original, using the intro drum loop to 50 Cent's Just a little Bit. Some people say it doesn't work with the song, but I just cant take it out, I like it.

I also did a tripped out version of The XX's Heart Skipped a Beat which Ive got great feedback on.. I stayed with almost the original vibe of the song, kicked it up a notch and drove it into flavor country with some serious chopping, rolling, and editing over a Hip Hop drum loop.

finally on Desperate But Not Serious, I took Adam and the Ants classic 80s song and turned it into a bumpin dance joint utilizing the hypnotic and catchy horns from the original version.

enjoy!
